Occupy Brookings encourages you to support local and regionally-owned businesses that are a vital part of the rich fabric of our community. One way to do this is by participating in a "cash mob," a group of committed citizens that visits a local shop or eating establishment to spend money, en masse, as a little bit of economic stimulus. Occupy Brookings hopes to sponsor cash mobs on a regular basis, beginning on Dec. 3, 2011.
Another way you can join our "buy local" initiative is by helping us to create, maintain and use this list of local and regionally-owned shops and eateries, artists and artisans. It will probably never be comprehensive because the local business scene is always changing. Our apologies to the proprietors of any shops or eateries we have not yet included. We don't mean to neglect you!
Please note that whether an establishment is "local or regionally-owned" is based on the best of our knowledge. If we are in error, please contact us.
